Outlaw
“Harper? We’re—” Jesus fuck.
We were out all morning patrolling, and I was about to suggest we take her out and grab something to eat, but the most beautiful woman in the world, our fucking woman, is standing in the living room, wearing a white dress. A God damned wedding dress, veil and all. She looks fucking amazing.
But seeing her in it pisses me off.
“Oh! Hey.” She spins our way, eyes wide. “I didn’t expect you guys back already. Weren’t you supposed to be out until later?”
“What the fuck are you wearing?” Lightning says in a low growl. “Shit, I forgot how great that made your tits look. Jesus.”
She’s fucking adorable when she blushes. Harper looks down at herself, brushing her hands over the elaborate gown. “It’s the dress from the wedding. I figured they would have thrown everything away but the motel boxed up all the luggage and stuff we left behind. It took a while because they sent it to Nate since they had his info, and the ID you gave them was phony. He forwarded it to me and it showed up this morning. It’s still a little dirty,” she says with a laugh.
“A little dirty? That sounds like what I’m thinking when I see you in it.” Shadow chuckles and shakes his head. “But you’re going to need to get the fuck out of that dress. Now.”
Thunder growls in agreement. I think we’re all thinking the exact same fucking thing.
“I mean… sure, but why? I just wanted to try it on again and see how it looked when I wasn’t freaking out over why I had it on. It’s such a pretty dress. Don’t you think? Even if the reason I ended up with it was horrible.” She twirls, and the hem raises, showing off her bare feet and ankles.
“You’re always beautiful. Don’t need a fucking dress for that,” rumbles Thunder. “We’ll buy you a hundred dresses if you want ‘em, but that one needs to go.”
“Take it off,” I order. “And give it to me. You’re not wearing a dress that Mesner bought you to wear for another man. Fuck that shit. You’re ours now, and I’m gonna take care of that dress right fucking now.”
With a curious expression, she obeys, stripping until all she’s wearing is her underwear. It’s tempting to drag her right over to the couch and show her how much I fucking love how she
looks, wedding dress or not.
“Good girl.” The way she captures her lower lip with her teeth at those words doesn’t make holding off any fucking easier, but no, we’re gonna fucking do this. “Throw some clothes on. We’re taking this shit outside.”
Harper throws on some tights and a sweatshirt and we take her over to the shooting range at the back of the compound. Emily and Alessa were out in front of Alessa’s place when we walked by, and they tagged along. We weren’t planning to make it into a party, but maybe Harper will have more fun that way.
“I brought clothespins,” says Alessa, and the two of them hang up the dress at the other end of the range, setting up a perfect target for us.
“Got the guns,” says Shadow, coming up behind us with a crate full of different options. With a heavy thunk, he puts it down on the concrete slab we fire from.
Harper blinks at it. “We’re really doing this? It’s just a dress.”
“Of course we fucking are,” I say, grabbing a paintball pistol. “Let’s warm up with a little fun before we fucking destroy it. Come here.”
Just like we did in the desert, I get behind her, putting my arms around her to steady her shot.
“I can do it on my own. You don’t have to help,” Harper says with a soft laugh that goes right to my dick.
“But I fucking want to. Now stand still, so I can feel you against me.” I adjust her until she’s standing like I want her, in a stable, braced position. “Time to show me if you remember anything.”
“Do we get to shoot, too?” Emily asks. “Please?”
“Up to Harper, but she gets first shot, for sure,” Shadow says with a grin.
“Like this?” Harper settles against me, steady, but leaning in for support. It presses her close, and I bet she fucking feels my response.
I laugh, squeezing her hip where I’ve got her steady. “Just like that. Now aim, and squeeze the trigger. That fucking dress deserves all that it gets.”
“I mean… it’s not the dress’s fault that Vincent was—”
“No fucking going back now. We’re gonna make a fucking mess of it, then tear it the fuck apart.
Shoot.”
She squeezes the trigger, the gun goes off and a moment later a massive red splatter of paint coats the whole front of the dress. It’s thick, viscous and dripping, almost like blood.
“Oh… Oh wow.” Her face lights up in delight and she laughs out loud, a real fucking belly laugh, like she still can’t believe she’s really doing this, but finding it fun as hell. Fuck, that’s a sound I wanna hear every day for the rest of my goddamn life. So fucking perfect.
“I can’t believe I just did that. That dress cost over thirty thousand dollars!” Her tone’s half joy, half disbelief. “We could’ve gotten it cleaned and sold—”
“Don’t fucking care. It’s worth it. Shoot again, honey,” rumbles Thunder. “Fuck that thing up good.”
She does, pulling the trigger again, once, twice, three times. Green splatters all over the bottom of the bodice, then bright blue smacks into the skirt, followed by a wet purple splash all over the train that Alessa pinned up to one side.
“Looking better and better, baby girl.” Shadow chuckles and shakes his head. “Show that piece of shit exactly what you think about him and his fucking dress. I don’t care if you looked amazing in it—that thing was made to be your prison, and then your coffin.”
“Fuck you, Vincent,” Harper yells and fires two more shots. “I hope you fucking rot in Hell forever!” She lights the dress up in bright orange and yellow splatter that runs down the pristine white silk in long wet streaks.
Fuck, she’s getting into, and I fucking love it.
Both Lightning and Thunder are laughing now. This is fucking amazing. Once she gets going, Harper keeps shooting until the dress is a rainbow, sloppy mess. The trigger clicks a couple more times until she realizes she’s out of ammo.
“Whooooo!” she hollers. It’s a fucking release, and she really needed this. Then again, from how we’re laughing with her, maybe we all did.
Emily holds up one of the real guns and puts it in Harper’s hands and smiles. “Let’s see you do some real damage.”
It’s a heavy caliber, even more than my usual. “I’m gonna hold you tight on this one, okay?”
She nods. “Okay.”
The recoil kicks her back into me, but she keeps it under control. A huge hole appears just about
where her heart would’ve been if she was wearing the dress. Pieces of fabric puff into the air and float to the ground.
“Holy crap.”
“It’s not dead yet,” Shadow growls.
Three more shots, each one more confident than the one before. The dress starts to come apart after she hits a seam. One of the arms is literally hanging by a thread.
Harper’s laugh is a little unhinged, and I fucking love it. “This is so fun! You guys need to have a go. Let’s turn it into Swiss cheese.”
She doesn’t have to ask us twice. I stay where I am to keep her steady, but the other guys pull out their pieces and start gunning at it. Alessa picks up a gun and places a whole series of shots in tight grouping just below the waist of the dress. Her dad did a good job teaching her. Emily sticks with a paintball gun that she absolutely blasts the remains of the dress with, in a whole fucking rainbow of color.
It takes a while, but finally, we slow down, until Harper’s last shot hits one of the clothespins and the remains of the dress fall to the ground. She lifts the barrel and pretends to blow the smoke off it.
“Rule number three,” I remind her.
“Which one?” she sasses back.
“Don’t make me spank your ass.”
“Okay, okay.” She flips the safety, pops the remaining ammo back out of the gun, then puts both of them down.
“Lemme see the gun.” She hands it to me, letting me pull out some special rounds and slot them in the magazine. Time for the grand finale. “Here, give the pile a couple shots.”
Harper takes the gun gingerly, and this time she treats it with a bit more respect, finger well off the trigger and the barrel pointing down, right up until she prepares to take a shot.
“I feel a little bad shooting it when it’s already down,” she quips.
“Just do it. Trust me.”
“Fine.” She aims and squeezes. The dress flops as the bullet goes right through it, but just a moment later, there’s a splash of fire. The material catches immediately. Harper jumps right into
me. “Holy crap!”
“Firestarters,” I say. “Vicious, and probably against the fucking Geneva Convention, but right here, right now, they’re fucking perfect.
She fires once more, adding another flash of flame and then it’s burning for real. We all just stand and watch as the trashed dress burns, all the way up until it’s little more than ash.
There’s something cathartic about it. I’d rather put those bullets right into Mesner himself, but we can only fucking kill him so many times. Still feels good.
Harper takes out the ammo and puts the gun down, then shakes her head. “I didn’t realize how much I needed that. That was amazing.”
“Feel good?” Thunder slips a hand around her waist and gives her a squeeze. “Get out a little aggression?”
“I had no idea how aggressive I was until just now. Just… seeing it burn… I could picture Vincent right there, imagine every shot as it slammed into him, felt every—”
“Easy, killer,” Lightning says with a laugh and pulls her into his arms for a squeeze. “We’ve created a fucking monster.”
“It’s pretty fucking hot,” Thunder says as he puts his arm around her waist from the other side, putting her between them. Pretty sure I know what she’s feeling from the way she grinds back against him.
“Maybe we should clean up and go back to the house? I’ve um…. got some things I need to do.” The suggestion in her voice is unmistakable.
Alessa and Emily laugh at the same time.
“I know exactly what those… things are. Pretty sure there are roughly… four of them?” Emily’s voice is absolutely dripping with double entendre, subtle as a fucking sledgehammer.
She’s not wrong. Pretty fucking sure all of those… things are really fucking hard right now.
“You know what?” Alessa says. “That sounds pretty important. How about we clean this up while you and the guys go deal with those… things.” Emily laughs again.
Harper’s barely even fucking blushing as she looks Alessa right in the eye and says, “Thanks! I’m going to do just that.” Then she starts walking, and crooks her finger at us over her shoulder. “You guys coming?”
You bet your fucking ass we will.
